Die in Südafrika geborene Schauspielerin Kandyse McClure dachte über eine Karriere in der Medizin nach, während sie einige Jahre nach ihrer Einwanderung nach Kanada in zwei Restaurants arbeitete. Eine Karriere als Schauspielerin kam ihr nie in den Sinn. Als Kind hatte sie in ihrer Freizeit immer getanzt, gesungen und sich verkleidet, aber all das war nur zum Spaß. Als ihre Mutter sie fragte, ob sie Interesse daran hätte, für ein Stück des Vancouver Fringe Festival vorzusprechen, das ein Bekannter produzierte, dachte sie genau das - es könnte Spaß machen.
